Not long ago, reports suggested that Aaradhya Bachchan and her guardians Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as well as Abhishek Bachchan were transferred to the Delhi High Court for reporting false news. It seems that some portals published fake news about the false report of death and illness of the 11-year-old girl which was not well received by the parents Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and decided to take legal action against the violators and uploaders for promoting these news. The hearing was held on April 20 and the court granted an injunction against the offenders and those who uploaded the offending videos and any content that violates privacy and provides false news about Aaradhya Bachchan.
After Aaradhya Bachchan Moved To Court Over Fake News Of Death, Delhi HC Grants Injunction Against Violators And Chargers
Aaradhya Bachchan filed a lawsuit in the Delhi High Court with the help of her parents, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, seeking an injunction against various channels and YouTube users to stop them from posting fake news about her death/critical illness. The lawsuit was filed under the sections of violation of privacy, defamation and violation of personality rights. In a landmark ruling, the High Court has issued an order stating that “All children must be treated equally.”
Lawyer Ameet Naik, who represented Abhishek Bachchan in the High Court, said: “It is a landmark ruling on 3 counts: an injunction upholding a child’s privacy, against spreading false and untrue news about a child that are harmful to a child and against defamation Children should be treated equally, whether they are famous children or not, the court has said that intermediaries should have a zero tolerance policy on fake news that is harmful to a child, by just like child pornography. In addition to that, in its order, the court also ordered Google/YouTube to provide details of the offenders such as contact number, email id, etc.
Lawyer Dayan, who accompanied Naik, argued that, against this, these videos are false, false, defamatory and uploaded with the aim and intention of gaining views and increasing the audience and subscription to the channel.
The current lawsuit is expected to be the first of its kind to protect the rights of a celebrity child who is a minor.
