Alia Bhatt blasts paparazzi for gross invasion of privacy at her home, tags Mumbai police; Karan Johar, Anushka Sharma, Arjun Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor join behind her
Alia wrote: “Are you kidding? I was at home, having a perfectly normal afternoon, sitting in my living room when I felt something watching me. I looked up to see two men on the terrace of the neighboring building with a camera directly at me. In what world is it okay and allowed? This is a serious invasion of someone’s privacy. There’s a line you shouldn’t cross, and it’s safe to say all lines were crossed today.”
Gathering behind her and calling out the invasion of privacy, Karan Johar, Anushka Sharma, Arjun Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor also shared their grievances. Anushka Sharma, who had faced a similar incident, shared Alia’s story, writing: “This is not the first time they have done this. About two years ago we called them for the same reason! You’d think it would have made them respectful of people’s space and privacy. Absolutely embarrassing! They were also the only boys to post our daughter’s photos despite repeated requests.”
Karan Johar, close to Alia, also posted: “There is no justification for this absolutely disgusting invasion of privacy. Everyone in the entertainment industry is always in favor of the media and the paparazzi and is always accommodating. But there has to be a limit. It is about anyone’s right to feel safe in their own home. This is not about actors or celebrities, this is a basic human right!”
Arjun Kapoor also expressed his frustration and echoed similar sentiments to Alia’s writing, “Absolutely shameless. This is crossing all limits if a woman is not safe in her own home to forget if she is a public figure or not for a second… Anyone in their right mind who takes pictures of public figures for a living needs to know that this is a pathetic behavior and these are people in the media that we have trusted and shown implicit faith in believing that they are here to do a job, not to make women feel insecure or invade privacy. This is nothing short of stalking @Mumbaipolice.”
Alia’s sister, Shaheen Bhatt, also expressed her anger saying: “So now it’s cool to point zoom lenses at people’s houses while you hide in a neighboring building to search for content? grown man. with cameras Hiding across the road. Taking surreptitious photos of an unconscious woman without her consent in her house. Just because the person in the photo is a celebrity doesn’t make this okay. If it were any other situation, with anyone else, it would be considered harassment and a complete assault on privacy.”
Alia’s mother, Soni Razdan, took to Instagram to write: “Shocked and appalled by this blatant disregard for one person’s privacy. Are we really becoming ‘that country’ now? Where do all our cultural norms stop existing when it comes to “getting the picture”? I hope someone can address this and fast!”
Janhvi Kapoor added: “I understand you showing up at places and being in full view doing your job. When there is a mutual understanding of the work of photographers, and the work and requirements of being a public figure. This secrecy, approaching someone’s private space without their consent or even knowledge and calling it exclusive as if it were a journalistic achievement is far from it.”
On the employment front, Alia Bhatt will make her next Hollywood debut with a heart of stone. She also has Karan Johar Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.
