Wasn’t hitmaker Anees Bazmee almost tattooed to direct producer Firoz Nadiadwala’s third part? Hera Feri franchise? Now we hear that Farhad Samji is making the film. Anees is suddenly out. What happened? I approached Anees, and he didn’t mince words.
Anees Bazmee on why she said no to Hera Pheri 3; “Firoz didn’t have much of a story, let alone a script. Unhone jo mujhe idea bataya woh kuch jammee nahin”
“I met the producer Firoz Nadiadwala several times. He didn’t have much of a story, let alone a script. Unhone jo mujhe idea bataya woh kuch jammee bahin (the idea that he threw at me did not come to fruition). Maina na keh diya (I said no),” admits Anees.
The formula for a successful movie is simple for Anees. “Without a script there is no success. It’s as simple as that. That’s why I’m taking so much time on my next script, starring Shahid Kapoor. I will finish writing it at the end of this month. Then there will be an announcement.”
Going back to the third part of Hera Feri (to be titled Hera Feri 4) Says Anees, “After turning down the offer, I now hear that the film will be directed by someone else (Farhad Samji). Akshay Kumar, who was totally opposed to making the film without a proper script, apparently agreed to join. I don’t know how or why. Only he can say it. Speaking for myself, I am no longer part of that project.”
Was the fact that Firoz Nadiadwala still owed Anees money for the last film they made together also a reason for Anees to opt out? “Yeah that too. But if I’d liked the story idea, I probably would have gone head over heels. Lekin aisa kuch ttha hello nahin (There was nothing that tempted me to make the film)”.
