Earlier today we reported that SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) had banned 45 people from participating in the stock market following a complaint about stock price manipulation. According to a PTI (Press Trust of India) report, these also include Arshad Warsi and his wife Maria Goretti. However, clarifying the same, Arshad took to social media in which he not only asked the media not to believe the rumors, but also added that he lacks knowledge in stocks and stock market.

On Twitter, Arshad Warsi responded to the accusations in a tweet that read: “Please don’t believe everything you read in the news. Maria and my stock knowledge is zero, I took advice and invested in Sharda and like many others we lost all our hard earned money.” Readers will know that after news of SEBI taking action against the Bollywood star and his wife spread like wildfire, the actor faced various trolls and backlash on social media.

SEBI started the investigation after receiving complaints about some entities that were allegedly involved in price gouging and selling shares of Sharpline Broadcast and Sadhna Broadcast to attract potential investors. The two entities were reportedly sharing misleading videos on their YouTube channels, advising people to buy shares of their companies for “extraordinary” profits.
SEBI authorities investigated the scenario from April to September 2022 and realized that there was a sharp increase in the price and volume of the shares belonging to the two companies from April to mid-July 2022.
Talking about his professional commitments, Arshad Warsi was recently in the news for signing a new project with his Munnabhai co-star Sanjay Dutt, and the two took to social media to announce their new collaboration.
