It has now come to light that selfie it was approved by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) almost 2 weeks ago. The CBFC review committee approved the film with a U/A certificate. Interestingly, the Censorship Board did not impose a single cut, audio or visual. The filmmakers received the certificate on February 8. The duration of the film, as mentioned in the censorship certificate, is 143 minutes. In other words, the execution time of selfie It’s 2 hours and 23 minutes.
Curiously, selfie it is Akshay Kumar’s seventh film in the post-pandemic era and his fourth post-Covid film to be cleaned up with zero cuts. At a time when the CBFC has become quite strict and ruthless with the content of movies, it is quite a feat.
Akshay Kumar’s first film after the pandemic, Doorbell (2021), it was cleared with U/A and zero cuts. The same thing happened with his next release, sooryavanshi (2021). Later, his family entertainer Raksha Bandhan (2022) received a ‘U’ certificate with no deletion or modification. bachchhan paandey (2022), however, was censored for its action scenes and double entendres. In samrat prithviraj (2022), CBFC called for dialogue changes in 4 places. Finally, setu ram (2022) also faced some censorship and dialogue replacements.
Apart from Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi, selfie it also stars Nushrratt Bharuccha and Diana Penty. Released on February 24, it is directed by Raj Mehta of Good news (2019) and JugJugg Jeeyo (2022) fame. It is an official remake of the 2019 Malayalam movie, Driver’s license.
