Rajkumar Hirani is arguably the biggest director in Bollywood right now. He has delivered five movies so far, all of which have been huge hits and have tremendous memory value. As a result, the expectations of his next film are enormous, dunky. Also, it stars Shah Rukh Khan, who is on a roll after the blockbuster of his recently released action artist, pathan.
Dunki director Rajkumar Hirani speaks highly of Shah Rukh Khan; he says: “Sometimes I have booked two days for a session and he finishes it in two hours”
Rajkumar Hirani rarely gives interviews and mostly talks to the media at the time of his film’s release. As a result, he came as a surprise when he recently spoke to India Today about dunky. In this conversation, she expressed her love for Shah Rukh Khan and his work ethic.
Rajkumar Hirani revealed that he was impressed with Shah Rukh’s preparation process and that the actor would shoot videos of a scene from his home and send it to him. Thats not all. Rajkumar said: “There will be 15 ways how he is going to do this. Before I go to the set, I know what he’s going to do. Sometimes I have reserved two days for a session and he finishes it in two hours”. He also praised him for his language proficiency.
It is well known that Shah Rukh Khan is not a morning person. Hence Rajkumar Hirani said that he was pleasantly surprised to see him arrive at 7:00 am for a photo shoot. He also said that Shah Rukh knew that the director sleeps early and therefore makes sure not to call him late at night. At the same time, however, Rajkumar Hirani said: “Keep joking with me that by the time the shoot is over, I will have turned (into a night owl). (He asked)’Itna subah kaun uthta hai?’”, adding that “I wish I had worked with him before”.
Another aspect of Shah Rukh Khan that Rajkumar Hirani praised was that “if he has to make a point, he does it subtly. You don’t want to appear to disturb the thought process.”
Besides Shah Rukh Khan, dunky it also stars Taapsee Pannu and Boman Irani. Its release is scheduled for December 22, 2023.
