According to a report in Times Of India, BBFC said: “Kerala’s history is still going through our sorting process. Once the film has received an age and content rating from the BBFC, it will be available to screen in UK cinemas.

According to the same report, Suresh Varsani, head of the UK distributor of the film 24 SEVEN FLIX4U, contacted all theaters on Friday to pull the film from theaters without rating. He said: “It is very worrying. I gave them the film on Wednesday and there were three versions: Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam. They saw one on Wednesday and the other two on Thursday. The classification by age is normally done on the day”.

Varsani followed up by emailing them on Thursday, May 11, and the response he received was that “compliance is reviewing it.” On May 12, he called them and they told him that he will not qualify that day. “I am very suspicious that they have not given a valid reason. Why do they need more time when they have had three days? I have never come across a situation like this where a movie was not rated when it was meant to be released. The United States, India, Australia, Canada and Ireland have surpassed it. I don’t understand what the problem is, ”he said. He also said that between him and the cinemas, they have suffered a combined loss of £40,000 to £50,000 (Rs. 40 to Rs. 50 lakh).

Kerala’s history is produced by Mr. Vipul Amrutlal Shah who is also the creative director of the film. Apart from Adah Sharma playing the lead role, the film stars Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani, Pranay Pachauri and Chandra Shekhar Dutta. Directed by Sudipto Sen under the banner Sunshine Pictures Pvt Ltd., the film was released in theaters on May 5, 2023.
