In March 2022, the Andheri Magistrate Court issued a summons to Salman Khan and his bodyguard Nawaz Shaikh after a journalist filed a complaint against the actor in 2019 accusing him of misbehaving towards him. He was later challenged in the High Court. According to the latest update on the case, the Bombay High Court on Thursday quashed the private case. A single judge court of Judge Bharati H Dangre had concluded the hearing.

The single court also reserved its orders in the March 21 conviction of Salman Khan and his bodyguard. Dangre said, “Let people have their own privacy, whether they are an actor, a lawyer, or a judge. None of you are above the law. Neither actor nor press person. Even they are obliged to comply with the law”, during the hearing. Meanwhile, the actor’s lawyer, lead lawyer Aabad Ponda, claimed that the journalist’s words and posture had improved significantly.
The Mumbai High Court ordered the FIR registered against actor Salman Khan, in the case of assault and misconduct with a journalist in 2019, to be annulled. Salman Khan will not have to appear before the Andheri court.

At the conclusion of the hearing, Judge Dangre also pointed out that the magistrate had not adequately complied with the requirements of Sections 200 (verification) and 202 (police investigation) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) when issuing the summons and that the complaint lacked merit. the “threat” necessary to constitute an offense of criminal intimidation.
For the inexperienced, a journalist had claimed that he, along with a cameraman, tried to film Khan when the actor was riding a bicycle. In his complaint, he alleged that although he had permission from the bodyguards, they allegedly mistreated him and took his phone after Khan objected to being photographed. He also claimed that the DN Nagar police had refused to file a complaint, whereupon he filed a private complaint with the magistrate, requesting criminal action against the actor and his bodyguard. On April 5 of last year, the high court issued a dismissal of the proceedings, which it ratified intermittently.
