Actor and comedian Abhilash Thapliyal has made a splash in the OTT world in recent years. His performance in the TVF web series Aspirants as the character Shwetketu, also known as SK, was highly appreciated by the audience. In fact, after the success of Aspirants, he also directed a spin-off of his character, titled SK Sir Ki Class. Recently, in an interaction with bollywood hungamaAbhilash opened up in much the same way and remembered being skeptical and scared.

Abhilash stated: “I come from a lower middle class family. We have many doubts about ourselves. We are not sure, and it was the same with SK Sir Ki Class. When we were filming Aspirants, I was very skeptical about my role because many of the actors on the show were from the TVF universe. They were all familiar faces.”
The actor and comedian further explained, “When I became a part of this, my first thought was only negative. I asked myself, what if the public doesn’t accept me? We never think otherwise. Since Aspirants was such a success, I was skeptical. I thought, “What if the audience can’t understand SK Sir’s universe?”
Thapliyal continued: “But I was pleasantly surprised that people started comparing him to the hopefuls. They gave us the same love. I was lucky that my character SK Sir turned out to be the first TVF character to have a spin-off.”
As Abhilash has also appeared in a ton of movies, we asked him to explain how the preparation process is different for a movie and a web show. In his response, he said: “I don’t think there is a process. In fact, I feel like if I was doing television, I would have worked in a similar way. You cannot differentiate the preparation for a movie and an OTT project. As an actor, you want to tell a story and do justice to your character, no matter what platform it’s being created for. He concluded by saying, “I think (differentiating between platform) will corrupt an actor’s effort if he acts while he thinks about the platform he’s going to launch on.”
On the professional front, he will be seen soon on kennedy. Anurag Kashyap’s directorial will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this year ahead of its release. It stars Sunny Leone and Rahul Bhat in the lead.
