Post-pandemic, movie theaters are finally witnessing audiences heading to theaters. While the movie theater experience has returned, theaters have re-released movies on special occasions. Last year, on the birthdays of Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and the late Dilip Kumar, theaters re-released many of their iconic films for a limited time as fans flocked to theaters to relive memories. Just this Valentine’s Day, movies like We meet, Tamasha and many more movies were welcomed with open arms.

It seems that theaters would like to continue this experience for fans, and interestingly, this may increase theater-going audiences. With many re-released films, Your Jhoothi Main Mecca Star Ranbir Kapoor was asked if he wanted any of his films to return to the big screen, and many wanted to see it again. As Ranbir Kapoor is busy with promotions for his upcoming Holi release, the actor feels that cinema and content will always find its audience, if not during the release, then later on OTT. During a group interaction on Sunday, bollywood hungama Asked Ranbir Kapoor if he wanted any of his films to be re-released on the big screen and give audiences a chance again to experience it, he says, “Cinema and content is such that it always finds its audience somewhere , if not , at the time of release, maybe 10 years later I remember, I mean, I can’t compare that to my movie, but a movie like the Guru Dutt movie. Kaagaz Ke Phool (1959), which was a huge disaster when it came out, or mera naam joker. But today, mera naam joker is RK Films’ best-selling film. And you know, whenever it’s on TV, or whenever people want the rights to RK Films, they talk about mera naam joker. So movies have their own destiny and movies will always find their audience.”
Besides that, Ranbir Kapoor chose Rocket Singh: Salesperson of the Year as the movie he would pick from his filmography that didn’t garner much appreciation from the audience when it was released in theaters in 2009. He says, “If I had to pick a movie that didn’t work in my filmography, I’d probably say rocket singh also. I don’t think it’s a very entertaining movie. I also think that if a movie doesn’t work when it’s released and the audience is the key and it never goes wrong, then there must be something wrong with the movie at the time, and it didn’t work. But in hindsight, if you’re sitting at home and watching rocket singh on OTT, maybe it’s a great watch. Maybe if I were to make a movie like rocket singh today, you should be smart and wise enough to “should make this movie for OTT and not for theaters”. You don’t waste people’s time and money and post it on an OTT platform.”
Meanwhile, the protagonist of Ranbir Kapoor Your Jhoothi Main Mecca is released in theaters on March 8, 2023. Directed by Luv Ranjan, the film also stars Shraddha Kapoor.
