The Delhi High Court has ordered Twitter to release basic subscriber information such as emails, IP addresses and phone numbers of users who are allegedly sharing clips from the upcoming Shah Rukh Khan movie. jawan. This order comes as a result of a lawsuit filed by the film’s producer, Red Chillies Entertainments Pvt Ltd, seeking to block the unauthorized transmission of the film’s content and clips.

The lawyer representing the plaintiff alleged that five Twitter accounts shared infringing material and claimed that those responsible for the leaks had access to the company’s system. Given this, they requested the disclosure of information about the users of these accounts. On this, Judge C Hari Shankar ordered: “The court orders defendant number 2 (Twitter) to provide information of the accounts with advance service to the plaintiff’s lawyer so that the plaintiff can take appropriate action.”
For the uninitiated, in April, the court blocked several unauthorized websites and Internet service providers from copying, recording, displaying or publishing photographs, songs, audio and video clips related to jawan without the proper license. Additionally, YouTube, Twitter, and Reddit were ordered to immediately block and remove any infringing content referred to by the production house. The provisional order is intended to prevent the unauthorized dissemination of copyrighted material and to protect the rights of the producer of the film.
