The timeless classic Broadway production The sound of the music Written and composed by Rodgers and Hammerstein in 1959, it has been etched in popular culture history ever since. More than a decade later, Robert Wise delivered the first film adaptation of the musical of the same name in 1965, winning five Academy Awards. Nearly six decades later, writer-director Paparao Biyyala has secured the official rights to the Broadway musical’s music for his debut film “Music School.”
Recreating three songs from the musical- ‘Do Re Mi’, ‘See you later, goodbye’ and “Sixteen Turning On Seventeen” beautifully woven for different situations in film music school, music teacher Ilaiyaraaja composed Richard Rodgers’ original musical notes for the London Philharmonic Orchestra for his film.
With the best team on board, Music School hired Hollywood choreographer Adam Murray to choreograph several songs for the multilingual film Music School. Furthermore, the filmmakers also hired two of the best choreographers in India, Chinni Prakash and Raju Sundaram to choreograph the film. other songs
School of Music is a musical narration of the sensitive and prevailing concern of the academic pressure to which young students are subjected by society, parents and teachers. Of the eleven songs in the film, three of them have been recreated from The Sound of Music, situationally woven into the film to suit the sensibilities of the Indian audience.
The grandeur of the film was captured by cinematographer Kiran Deohans. The cast includes Shriya Saran, Sharman Joshi and Prakash Raj in lead roles, plus newcomer Ozu Barua and Gracy Goswamy in critical roles. The other cast consists of Benjamin Gilani, Suhasini Mulay, Mona Ambeognkar, Leela Samson, Bugs Bhargava, Vinay Varma, Sreekanth Iyengar, Vaquar Sheikh, Phani and many other child actors.
Presented by Yamini Films, Hyderabad, this multilingual film is shot in Hindi and Telugu and dubbed into Tamil. It will be released on 12 May 2023 by PVR in Hindi – Tamil and Dil Raju in Telugu.
