Shailesh Lodha and Asit Kumar Modi, two prominent members of the Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC) cast and crew, have been making headlines since the former left the show. In a recent development, it was reported that he sued the production company for alleged failure to pay fees and breach of contract. Although the creators kept quiet earlier, Asit Kumar Modi has decided to break his silence on the matter.

In an interaction with ETime, Modi explained that a couple of months ago he received a notice about unpaid dues, but could not understand the reason because he had “not refused” to pay them. As a producer, his company had been reminding Shailesh to pay his dues, but the actor did not respond and did not go through the necessary formalities. The website quoted the producer as saying, “I wanted to work outside and participate in kavi sammelans, but Taarak Mehta is a daily soap opera with an ensemble cast and it was not possible to fulfill his request. We had a minor fight over it in April of last year, after which he never shot again.”
Elaborating on its fallout, Asit added that in September last year, the show’s creators replaced Shailesh with Sachin Shroff when he failed to return. According to Asit, it is inappropriate for Shailesh to use his couplets and poems to “attack” him. Asit expressed his grief over the situation, as he and Shailesh previously shared a positive relationship.
The portal later contacted Lodha for comment on Asit’s claim. However, Shailesh declined to comment on the ongoing case, citing that she is sub judice. However, he mentioned that he has been an established poet since 1981 and is confident that he can provide documented evidence to address each of Asit’s claims.
